Alice Guy, a pioneer of cinema, was the first female director in history.  Her early works stood out for their innovative use of storytelling and special effects, at a time when cinema was primarily used to capture scenes from everyday life. Over the course of her career, Alice Guy directed and produced more than 1,000 films. Despite her immense contribution to the history of cinema, Alice Guy remained largely unknown for a long time.
While I was in residence at Les Inoubliables, I composed original scores for Alice Guy’s silent films. The work premiered at La Cinémathèque Française, performed by La Symphonie de Poche and Duo Circé and later performed by Orchestra Nexus.
